The Hopkins Parents Fund supports Lighting of the Quads

Students gather to enjoy hot cocoa, music, fireworks, and community
Posted December 11, 2014

The Keyser Quad was filled with about two thousand people this December 3rd as Johns Hopkins undergraduate and graduate students – along with faculty, alumni, and staff – gathered to celebrate the 10th annual Lighting of the Quads.

President Ronald J. Daniels officiated, flipping the switch to turn on the holiday lights; a 10-minute fireworks display followed. Three student a cappella groups – the JHU Sirens, AllNighters, and Ketzev – as well as the Johns Hopkins Pep Band performed.

"Students really do appreciate these opportunities to come together as a community and have a little bit of fun and set aside some of the stress of school, and to spend time with each other and connect back with the bigger picture, the bigger university," says Marie Luebke '15, a Hodson Trust Scholar. She adds, "And I just love fireworks."

Lighting of the Quads is one of many events supported by the Hopkins Parents Fund, dedicated to enriching the Homewood student experience.
