"You've heard of Back to the Future? Where did it end? Where did it begin? 2015. Back to the future is here," Johnny Matheny, a pioneer of advanced arm prosthetics, told an audience of Hopkins alumni, parents, and friends.

They came together, nearly 400 in all, on November 16 for an evening of fun, great conversation, and inspiration as part of Rising to the Challenge: Miami. Half gathered at the beautiful Pérez Art Museum — the other half tuned in from across the country and around the world for a live online broadcast.

All had the chance to see what few people anywhere have: a demonstration of Hopkins' thought-controlled prosthetic arm, the most advanced in the world.

Now you, your family, and friends have a chance to recapture that inspiration and help advance this life-changing Hopkins innovation by:

The Hopkins Modular Prosthetic Limb is the most capable prosthetic arm in the world, combining high-dexterity robotics with brain control. The device promises to improve life for thousands of people who have lost an arm during military service or traumatic injury, and those with paralysis due to spinal cord injury, ALS, stroke, muscular dystrophy, Parkinson’s, or other neuro-degenerative diseases.
